Brussels, Belgium. 2010.1.25 - The Solvay Executive Commitee has taken the decision to dedicate US$100,000 to fund educational and reconstruction programs in Haiti.

The earthquake in Haiti has caused immense suffering, loss of life and destruction. It has destroyed the country's infrastructure, homes and businesses. The international community is rushing to provide immediate relief, organizing emergency operations to stabilize the situation and alleviate the pain of the Haitian people.

Many organizations are also looking ahead, preparing operations to rebuild shattered lives and restore a sense of hope. In addition to the USD100,000, Solvay employees are being encouraged to contribute to the cause, with a further matching contribution to be shared by the group. These funds donated by Solvay will provide long term assistance after the first responders finish their work.
