Baltimore, USA. 2009.11.12 - The 5th Annual World Usability Day took place on Thursday November 12, 2009.

With the theme of 'Designing for a Sustainable World', this year's World Usability Day focused on Environmental, Social, Economical and Technological Sustainability.

World Usability Day was founded to ensure that the services and products important to life, are easier to access and simpler to use. It's about making our world work better.

Design is in great transition. Traditionally, the word 'design' has been interpreted with a focus on appearance. However, design (and the degree of Usability of that design), is more about the practical application of an object to its' intended purpose. Technology today is too hard to use. A cell phone should be as easy to access as a doorknob.

On World Usability Day, tens of thousands of people across the globe participated in hundreds of events. You can follow posts of these events in the links below, but the most critical outcomes will be permanent changes in the behaviour of individuals, corporations and governments as a consequence of these events.
